Our Experience

Over the last 23 years, we have run many school and adult trips to Ypres, The Somme, Normandy, China, Russia, Berlin and other places of historical interest. History is our passion. As former history teachers, we have a proven track record in organising educational group travel. Our guides have led tours with a study element for many years. They take great satisfaction from accompanying those who are interested in the past, as well as the present, to the fascinating sites where the turbulent history of the 20th Century was made.

We have connections with excellent travel providers. Our experience in both History teaching and group travel is the rationale behind Spirit of History, a company whose aim is to deliver an enlightening, sociable and fulfilling break.

Knowledge And Enjoyment

Unique to Spirit of History, we offer a short introductory talk, early in the trip, which is designed to pass on key information and to promote understanding and empathy. During the visit itself, information is constantly passed on and specially created packs proided.

We see knowledge as the key to a real appreciation and comprehension of the past. Visiting an historic site can also help increase our understanding of what we have read or heard.
